Re: training the legs
I do bodyweight squats as well as squats while holding kettlebells, water filled balls, and my weight vest.
Do it all and mix it up.

Couple of things i do as part of my training.
- weighted hill sprints
- Yomping (fast walking over arduous terrain with a heavy bergen)
- Squats + Variations (knees together, pistols etc)
- Jumping skills (box jumps, leaping up flights of stairs etc)
- Kettlebell training
- Firemans Carries.
enjoy!

Re: training the legs
I am not currently doing any leg specific training. Last time I measured my thighs they were 28 inches around. I won a bet with a friend of mine that my thighs were larger than her waist.
Anyways I am currently finding a lot of value in standing in deep stances like santi for time. Since I started doing so I have noticed a lot more spring in my footwork and more stamina while sparring.
When I do get back to more strength training I want to focus on pistols and other bodyweight squats. My favorite weighted leg exercise is the zercher squat. I have never like the back squat.

Trail running! It does the most amazing things for my Bagua! Very good for ankle strength, leg strength, dexterity (those damndable roots), and cardio with all those hills. It has helped more quickly than anything I have ever done in the gym. Now the the trail running and martial arts are helping each other back and forth I think.
